Parc du Lac-Beauchamp
Gatineau
The 213-hectare Parc du Lac-Beauchamp features a mosaic of natural environments: woodlands, wetlands, streams and a lake. These habitats form a veritable living network, essential to the survival of the biodiversity present in this urbanized area.
In spring, the western chorus frog becomes a symbol of the park’s biological richness. Its song can be heard on trails near the wetlands where it breeds.
Ville de Gatineau’s Lac-Beauchamp conservation plan guides actions to protect, restore and enhance the area. It plays a key role in preserving the wetlands essential to the tree frog. It also aims to limit the pressures of urbanization and ensure a sustainable balance between human use and nature conservation.
Whatever the season, people come here to walk, cycle or observe the flora and fauna. In winter, the trails are transformed to welcome skiers and snowshoers. Each visit becomes an opportunity to better understand the richness of the site and the importance of protecting it.
